Overflow & Event Parking on Grass

Turn a field or lawn into overflow parking that stays firm, green and mud-free, whether it is used every weekend or a few times a year. Churches, village halls, sports clubs, schools, pubs, garden centres, showgrounds and wedding venues use these products to add parking without laying hardstanding – cars drive off, the field drains and the grass recovers.

Which product do I need?

Turf reinforcement mesh: the most cost-effective option for big areas. Each roll covers 50m², pegs straight into the grass and is rated for cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes once the grass has knitted through.
Heavy duty car park grass mats 22mm: instant protection for regular overflow bays, disabled bays and pay points.
23mm rubber grass mats: for entrances, turning areas, pedestrian crossings and the routes that take the most wear.
Lightweight ground protection boards: a temporary route on and off the field for one-off events, lifted again afterwards.
Medium-duty ground protection mats: temporary trackway for the in/out lanes, coaches and heavier vehicles.

Permanent or temporary?

A venue that parks on grass every weekend is best served by mesh laid once across the field, with mats at the entrance. A one-off show or a Christmas overflow is better served by ground protection mats and boards that go down for the event and come up afterwards. Both work in combination, and we will plan the layout with you from a sketch of the field.

Planning tips

Lay mesh between April and September so the grass establishes before heavy use.
Allow 2–4 weeks for the grass to grow through before regular parking.
Put mats or boards at the entrance, where wear is always heaviest, and at the marshalled turning points.
Mark bays with temporary paint or cones rather than posts, so the field can still be mown.

Quick answers

How many rolls of mesh do I need? Multiply the length by the width in metres and divide by 50, then round up.

Can it be lifted afterwards? Boards and mats lift and reuse. Mesh is designed to stay in place, but it can be lifted and relaid elsewhere.
