Interlocking Rubber Grass Mat 910mm x 910mm x 16mm

These interlocking rubber grass mats clip together edge to edge to make a firm, mud-free surface over grass. Each mat is 910mm × 910mm (about 36" × 36") and 16mm thick. The open holes let the grass grow up through the mat, so within a few weeks it knits into the lawn, stays green and can be mown as normal.

Because the mats lock together, there are no cable ties to fit. The square 0.91m size makes neat, straight paths and fits awkward spaces better than large mats, and each one is small enough for one person to carry and lay.

Interlocking or standard grass mats?

Choose these interlocking mats for paths, wheelchair routes and odd-shaped areas, where a neat square layout matters and you'd rather not fit cable ties.

Choose our 1m × 1.5m rubber grass mats for large open areas. They cost less per square metre and come in 16mm and 23mm.

Planning your layout

Each mat covers 0.83m². Interlocking mats work best when the width of your path is a whole number of mats, so plan widths in steps of 0.91m.

A path two mats wide (1.82m) gives two wheelchair users room to pass each other. For any other area, the calculator at the top of this page works out how many mats you need. If a lot of mats will be cut to fit, add a few extra.

Laying tips

1. Mow the grass short and clear any stones so the mats sit flat.
2. Start in one corner and work outwards, pressing each mat's edge firmly into the next until the joints lock.
3. Peg the mats into the ground, especially along the outside edges of a path and on slopes. Pegs are not included with this mat. Call us on 01282 270214 if you need them.
4. Cut around trees, posts and curves with a sharp utility knife.
5. Water the area in dry weather while the grass grows through.
