Rubber stable mats
Rubber stable mats 6ft x 4ft (1.83m x 1.22m) come in 12mm and 18mm with a reversible bubble/hammer top, plus an 18mm interlocking version that locks together without gaps. A standard 12ft x 12ft stable takes six mats. Lay them on a level, well-drained concrete base and you will use noticeably less bedding, while the horse stands on a surface that insulates from the cold floor and gives grip when getting up.
Gateway and paddock mats
Gateway rubber grass mats are 1m x 1.5m, 23mm thick and pegged straight onto the ground. Hooves and tyres spread their weight across the mat, the grass grows through the holes and the gateway stays firm and clean through winter instead of becoming a bog. How many mats do I need?
Stable: multiply the length by the width in feet and divide by 24 – each mat covers 24 sq ft. Gateway: a 12ft (3.6m) gate usually takes four mats per row, and two or three rows cover the churned ground either side of the gate line.
