Product overview
Lock your mats together so they stay put. These connectors join ground protection mats into one continuous trackway or working area, so mats can't creep apart, lift at the edges or leave trip gaps when vehicles brake and turn. Each one comes with its own bolts and washers, ready to fit.
- Stops mats drifting apart. Joined mats move as one surface, so wheels don't catch on edges and gaps don't open up under turning traffic.
- Firm but forgiving. The connector sits under the mat corners and bolts through from the top, holding the mats tight while allowing a little movement. That flex absorbs impact and helps prevent damage to the mats.
- Everything included. Every connector is supplied with standard bolts and washers. Tighten with an ordinary spanner or socket, with no specialist tools.
- Quick to fit. About 3–4 minutes to join two mats in a line, or around 15 minutes to connect a block of four.
- Built for outdoor work. Tough HDPE with mild steel fixings, resistant to impact, wear, weather and corrosion, and reusable job after job.
2-way or 4-way?
How many do I need?
For a single line of mats (a trackway or walkway), use two 2-way connectors at every joint: one at each side of the join.

For a grid of mats (rows and columns), use a 4-way connector at every point inside the grid where four corners meet, and 2-way connectors at each joint along the outside edge.

Which mats do they fit?
These standard connectors fit mats with corner connection holes, including our TurfShield Plus medium-duty mats (all sizes) and TurfGuard Pro lightweight boards.
LoadMaster Pro heavy-duty mats link through their handholds with a different connector. Call us and we'll supply the right ones for your order.
Fitting them
- Lay your mats in position with the corners lined up.
- Slide the connector underneath so its holes sit below the corner holes of the mats you're joining.
- Bolt through from the top with the washers supplied, and tighten until firm.
- Don't overtighten. The mats need a little room to move and to expand in hot weather. Overtightening can damage the connector and the mats.

Which ground protection mat do I need?
Choose by the heaviest traffic the mats will carry. Our lightweight TurfGuard Pro boards are rated to 5 tonnes for foot traffic, mowers and small vehicles. TurfShield Plus medium-duty mats are rated to 15 tonnes for vans, compact tractors and event traffic. LoadMaster Pro heavy-duty mats are rated to 60 tonnes for excavators, dumpers and plant. Call us if you're not sure.
Can the mats be reused?
Yes. They're made for repeated use: lift them, hose them down and store them for the next job.
